PHYSICS
MR LLOYD GOH

Qualifications: NUS Physics
Experience: 3 years of teaching experience
Mr. Lloyd Goh is sensitive to the wants and more importantly the needs of his students and tailors his lessons closely to them. Adopting a stage-based approach, Mr. Llyod shines light on the major conceptual problems and mistakes that students often face and make, and subsequently going into the strategies and heuristics involved before consolidating with examples. Apart from practice, Mr. Lloyd also advocates for discussions and interaction in his classes for holistic learning.
MR GRAEME CHIEW

Qualifications: NTU Applied Physics (Specialized in Photonics & Quantum Electronics)
Experience: 6 years of teaching experience
In teaching physics, Mr. Chiew emphasizes heavily on fundamental concepts and derivations. Drawing from his well-devised game plan for the A levels, he often spends several lessons from the beginning of the year deriving fundamental relations to ensure that his students have a strong foundation in concepts and understanding. Mr. Chiew believes that most school teachers do not have ample time to go through Physics with explicit detail and treatment during curriculum. As such, he finds it his duty to train and challenge his students to study Physics with complete and strong understanding, rather than merely applying textbook formulae and blind algorithms. As the examinations approach, Mr Chiew will spend the remaining time going through typical examination questions and sharing exam tips and strategies. He believes doing well in examinations depends mostly on the preparation during the examination weeks, but true understanding in subjects comes a long way with good foundation and guidance.
MR MAX

“I want to get my students to see the world first before using mathematics to solve its problems.”
Qualifications: Ph.D in Experimental Physics, Masters in Physics (Pisa)
Experience: Physics Lecturer at NUS, 25 years of tutoring experience
Mr. Max has always believed that knowledge should not be compartmentalized into different fields - just as how Physics should not be cut off from Biology, Chemistry or any other subject - and this is exactly how Mr. Max conducts his lessons. Such an unconventional approach has often been said by his students to be a stunning eye-opener, one that helps them to evade the common mistake of oversimplifying problems in Physics.
With an amiable and spontaneous persona, Mr. Max ensures that his lessons are always enjoyable and enriching.
MR IKHSAN

“Grasp the concepts!”
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (Hons), National University of Singapore
Experience: More than 5 years of teaching experience
Students reflect that Mr Ikhsan’s lessons are fun and entertaining, and his ability to use everyday situations to illustrate key concepts makes it easier for student to grasp difficult Physics concepts.
He believes that the subject requires a lot of critical thinking in handling examination questions, instead of merely memorizing the many Physics equations. Hence, he chooses to emphasise on understanding the key concepts during his classes and training his students in critical thinking skills to prepare them for their examinations.
