Mr Sean Lim

“There is a system for everything.”

Qualifications: Bachelor of Business Management, Singapore Management University

Experience: More than 3 years of teaching experience as a full time tutor.

Mr Lim believes that there are three essential steps in doing well in Economics. First, we need to build a strong foundation. Next, one must retain different application skills from past papers and model answers. Last but not least, to be able to apply such answers in the context of different questions. In order to achieve these, he conducts his classes in a systematic manner through a series of critically planned syllabus.

Sean approaches teaching from a different perspective and will find daily examples to explain why some students do better as compared to the others. Through his years of teaching, he realised that the greatest difference lies between understanding, retaining and applying the knowledge. He hopes that through his humble understanding, he can teach his students to excel, not only in Economics but also in all forms of learning and approaching life in general.

Mr Lim prefers to give short and intensive sessions with appropriate breaks for students to conceptualize and voice out any questions. Thus, his students can hold their attention span in a much better and efficient manner and eventually increases the efficiency rate of a student.

“Most of us have a favourite movie that we watch many times without making a conscious attempt, but are able to recall everything the characters do or say. This is the power of impressions and this is exactly how I try to make my students recall or apply the application of the concepts. I feel that students will benefit greatly from this.”

Mr Raffles Ng

“Study smart, not study hard.”

Qualifications: NTU Accountancy

Experience: 2 years of teaching experience

While Mr. Ng agrees that studying hard does allow students to understand most concepts, he believes even more in smart studying to grasp the more important concepts and the answering techniques in Economics. Hence, Mr. Ng adopts a guided approach where his students would gradually come to realize the links between economical concepts and real world situations.
Mr. Ng also subscribes to providing interactive lessons to develop an effective learning environment, where students could pick up the correct concepts and eliminate common errors.
“It is of utmost importance to have strong concepts. Students must have a strong foundation in Economics to excel."
